Staying true to their functional, performance driven activewear, and not for even a single sports bra compromising on style, it’s no wonder one of my fave Aussie yoga brands has nailed it once again in the activewear department. The Upside’s latest collection is spiked with a heady dose of Disco Fever, and safe to say the good vibes have most definitely rubbed off on me.
One of my personal favourite prints the Polka Dot Sophie Bra & Midi Pant
Vibrant. Unique. Flawless with a touch of glam. All shot by Natalie Koval
For groovy, yet equally functional and wearable pieces, look no further. This collection had me boogying all the way through the shoot! Good thing their fabric and designs really allow for full range of movement, whether that’s dancing, yoga, F45 or track running… they’re go you covered.
Since the term “athleisure” isn’t going anywhere anytime soon, take it from the girl who writes about yoga in her yoga pants for a living when I say that the comfort and versatility of The Upside’s designs show up time and time again with every new drop. The metallic martini motif yoga pant makes me realise that, it is, in fact, always happy hour somewhere. Their Camo 54 print is reminiscent of their original army style, only with added flair and not to mention, that same quick-dry fabric we all love after a sweaty heated vinyasa.
The diversity of their styles let’s me go from the yoga studio, to the coffee shop and onto a meeting with as little concern as possible. Truth of the matter is, I don’t need to tell you. I can show you.
While I’d like to get my dancing shoes on and strut out a-la Saturday Night Fever, the collection keeps it subtle and remarkably sleek, true to its signature aesthetic. My personal favourite, the Paisley print, pretty much goes with every colour way. The fabric is soft, breathable and the print is just loud enough to make you stand out on your way to the studio. I also really loved the windbreaker version, lightweight and super handy on those unpredictable weather days.
Aside from this being yet another really fun and easy going shoot with the ever talented Natalie Koval, we had to brave Sydney’s weather crazy temperament. With smokey, hazey days, flash floods, fires and rain… mother nature was giving us some challenging times to shoot with, which brings me to my next, and very important point : sustainability.
The Upside are upholding their commitment to sustainability, using ECONYL fabric made from recycled plastic bottles and discarded fishing nets. An eco-friendly initiative I’ve been noticing more and more, and it’s something I can TOTALLY get behind and fully support – and another reason why I love to align with brands like The Upside.
