On my last trip to the Mentawais where I hosted an all girls-surf and yoga retreat, we were either in the ocean for hours on end, or running around on land t’ill the sun set over the horizon. Being a lover of the ocean, travel and sweaty hot yoga practices, it’s safe to say this specific combination had my hair seeing more then it’s fair share of sun, sand, sweat and pollution.

Hence, a deep cleanse was needed to keep things healthy, soft and tangle-free at the end of the day, which is why a detox is so important.
Detoxifying your hair goes way further then just lather-rinse-repeat. There’s an undeniable link between our scalp health and our hair health. In the same way I’m all about a healthy body leading with a healthy mind, you can’t have one without the other. So when the time to comes for a cleanse, I like to know I’m doing a thorough job at detoxing both my hair and scalp.
Many of you may know that my background is French. I was born in France, to a French mum and English dad. Naturally, I’ve always had a genuine trust in French pharmaceuticals and beauty products, and no matter how many products I trial, I always come back to the home basics.
Klorane is based in the South of France and have a real passion for botany, which you can see through the quality of their products and their clean, lean, no fuss messaging and packaging.
The cool thing about Aquatic mint is that it is the species of mint with the highest form of antioxidant concentration, delivering it’s detoxifying properties from a very natural and powerful source.
Taking the refreshing shampoo and conditioner with me to the Mentawais was a no brainer. It easily fits into my lifestyle by keeping things natural, no fuss, and kind to our mother earth. Meaning no parabens, SLS/SLES or silicone, and most importantly, vegan friendly.
The Aquatic mint shampoo was gentle enough that I could use regularly after surfing all day everyday. Aside from smelling like a refreshing cup of mint tea and giving my senses a really rejuvenating jolt of life, it was also great at unclogging any build up (like sweat, excess oil, and dead skin cells), leaving my hair and scalp feeling fresh with that instantly cool feeling you get from anything minty. The conditioner is also the perfect follow up to the shampoo, hydrating my scalp and salty locks while detangling and adding shine.
Delighted to say both products have me feeling instantly fresh after every use, and the good part being it’s dermatologically tested and suitable for frequent use on all hair types. Until I can take myself back to the magic of the Mentawais, it’s cool (pun intended) to know I’ve got this sensory journey to come back to with every hair wash. My at home spas have been feeling particularly lush lately!
